Road Map

Developing quality software is quite challenging, especially in a field as vast and still unknown as autism.

Our development work continues unabated, especially thanks to private donations and sponsorships, which allow us to use the latest technologies on the market.

The ideas to be realized are many, as well as the objectives to be achieved, but we take (quickly) one step at a time.

interCom is our most ambitious project.

In summary, it is an information platform that uses the proven industrial platform created by digitalCode: "Morgana".

The initial aim is to create a data collection focused on autistic people, both by rehabilitation centers and by families. With this information system it is possible to monitor the person being treated 24/7 and process support data to the professionals of the rehabilitation center or research center.

Once a family-center channel has been created, it will be possible to maximize the time for collecting and processing information, eliminating the time lost by traditional information channels or creating new ones where they do not exist.

The tools used will be all the computer equipment capable of managing information: PCs, Macs, Linux, Smartphones and Tablets.

After "Puzzle Classic" we want to make a second version with exclusive contents.

The basic idea is to enhance the digital works of artists in multiple fields: exclusive drawings, music, graphic user interface.

We want to expand the content of the game so that "players" can interact for longer thanks to more puzzles and music.

We invite both emerging and established artists to participate in the project: the aim is to create a second game that can help autistic people.

During the lockdown, the staff of "Abbraccio" invented distance learning with the computer tools at their disposal.

After sharing their experience, the joint project "powerUP" is born: to create a multi-platform interactive tool that allows you to create stories and situations in an interactive and dynamic way.

Single or joint interaction: the activities can be remotely controlled by the therapists, in the local LAN or used independently.

The functional pre-analysis and feasibility study for integration with "interCom" aimed at data collection and processing is currently underway.

The magic formula of a video game is: ... to entertain the player, satisfying him!

Imagine in a person with autism being able to get gratification while playing while learning.

With this assumption the idea of creating a video game inspired by classics of the past was born: Tetris™, Bubble Puzzle™, Bejeweled™

Combine shapes and colors in a grid. Joining identical shapes and colors causes a fading effect of the objects (contentment) and the cascade of the objects above are the basis of the idea of "hootPocket".

We are developing game design in collaboration with rehabilitation centers and our "Volunteers" professionals in the "disability" and "video games" sector.

Finding adequate and specific software for augmentative communication for both computers and mobile devices (smartphones and tablets) is difficult and what is generally offered or is paid for and therefore not accessible to most people or even worse is developed by people not directly involved in the world of autism: this involves the development of often superficial IT solutions for a whole series of obvious reasons (a software developer is in any case an intermediate means between the request and the solution and re-elaborates it in a subjective way based on his level of knowledge ).

What we want to create is free software that can be used in a dynamic and simple way by users: we want to untie the operation of the software from a single device and make it global. How does all this translate? Simple: by developing a platform specifically designed for augmentative communication, we are able to create infinite communication channels with all available IT means; a practical example: Using and administering the software simultaneously between different mobile devices or via the web.

The study and implementation of the software is the result of teamwork that involves software developers, rehabilitation centers, researchers, parents' associations and all people personally involved in the world of autism who share their experience adding a very precious value added to the project.

One more step: today it is possible to create hardware / software products at a low cost but with a high potential capable of creating "physical" devices (such as, for example, a series of buttons) that can interact with specially developed software . It would be fantastic to be able to create hardware projects open to everyone (open source) to be able to connect the augmentative communication software to "physical" devices, so as to further simplify the use of the software itself. With the "open Source" formula, once the hardware prototype has been created, we will publish the projects so that they can be created by anyone who wishes.
The ultimate mission is, and always will be, to help people with autism!

It is well known the need to find alternative ways in the processing of the external world in autistic people. Verbal communication is almost always not effective so the other senses are used as a receptive channel.

Inspired by the digital museum in Tokyo created by the Team Lab Borderless, we would like to create sensory devices not only for associations but also for the family environment, using hardware within everyone's reach and above all that can be built independently and modularly. The project is part of our "open project" philosophy.

Sensory set-ups already exist, we are well aware of this, but unfortunately they are expensive and subordinated to strict corporate / economic policies. A project of this magnitude developed within "Andy's Project" must have minimal impact on costs but focus on the results it can achieve.

In autistic people, play as an educational method is an excellent two-way learning channel.

Inspired by role-playing games (RPGs) we want to recreate classic fairy tales (such as, for example, those of the Grimm Brothers: Snow White, Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, etc. etc.) as an interactive video game.

The aim is to try to identify the "player" as the main character of the fairy tale and through his choices during the game to learn (or consolidate) new concepts that can also be useful in the "real world" (such as the danger).
The game will not have a linear story but will be subject to the actions taken during the game that determine the plot.

   The first interactive fairy tale is under development: "Does Snow White live in Japan?!".
